GREEN LABEL ART | VOTE BOUNDLESS

1421

The Green Label Art Site is now live and you can finally vote for the Rate x Boundless NY x Mountain Dew can. After several revisions due to the suits at Dew, we have a final product ready for your approval.

455

Here’s how it works:

1. To vote you need to create an account on GreenLabelArt.com.

2. Once you’ve done this, you now have 7 votes to use per day. Obviously use them all to Vote for Boundless.

3. Now that you’ve done that. Its time to get everyone you know to create an account and vote for us. Spread the word people!!

4. We have until Sept 9th to keep voting. Our design is by far the best, but it won’t matter unless we have the most votes. Vote or Die!!!

455

You may notice that our can design comes from the new mural that Rate is working on on the front wall of Boundless in Brooklyn, but with a little twist from Jimmy Papers.

455

All you need is an email address and 2 minutes out of your day to vote. Head over to the Green Label Art Site and use your 7 votes a day to get Boundless into the finals.

Your vote is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A STUCK UP PIECE OF CRAP

1414
Words by Aaron Hansen Images from PaperMag

Tes Uno’s leading lady and Boundless Representative Monica LoCascio always stays super busy. Her 9 to 5 is handing production over at Paper Magazine, but Monica has her hands in more projects than I can wrap my mind around, simultaneously.

Her motivation puts someone with even the most grisly work ethic to shame. Its my pleasure to announce that one of her many ventures is finally hitting the shelves. Big things on the horizon for Monica.

Stickers: From Punk Rock to Contemporary Art by DB Burkeman & Monica LoCascio Published by Universal and distributed by Rizzoli, this 300 page book will hit retailers in September. Pre-order it now!!!

455

Paper Mag did a feature on the upcoming release in their Summer 2010 Issue. A great two page spread covering the book, make sure you get a copy of the newest Paper Mag on newsstands now.

455

Congrats to Monica on all her hard work for this project. Boundless will be getting a few copies and will keep you updated on the nationwide exhibition tour that coincides the books release.

455

Press Release from Rizzoli below.

Whether you’re a punk, skater, graffiti artist, musician, clothing brand, political activist, fine artist, or just the fan of a band, stickers have always been the perfect way to express oneself. In recent years, the once underground world of graffiti and street art has seen galleries opening their doors and art collectors opening their wallets to works that were once plastered illegally in cities throughout the world.

STICKERS: AKA Stuck-Up Piece of Crap traces the visual and social history of this medium, as well as exploring the relationship that artists have with their pieces and how they communicate with the passing pedestrian. As artist stikman states, “Whether printed or stenciled or painted or drawn with a marker, stickers confront the inequity of the mainstream artworld. Their presence declares that here is a spontaneous form of artistic expression that does not fit into the prescribed definition of art.”

455

With nearly 4,000 sticker images from such artists as Keith Haring, Banksy, KAWS, Jenny Holzer, Damien Hirst, FUTURA, and thousands others, themes from branding to political activism are explored in this visually stunning book.

In addition to the vibrant art, Stickers also contains essays from Carlo McCormick, Shepard Fairey, and many other artists and collectors, and includes eight sheets of stickers, many of which are original works from artists like Barry McGee, Ryan McGinness, and José Parlá. There is also a deluxe numbered limited edition of Stickers which comes in a clamshell box with a folder of twenty-three oversized, die-cut stickers, some of them signed by the artists.

IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD + NYC 10013

1405

Words by Aaron Hansen Photos by Isabel LaSala

Oh Cody’s. Every degenerates favorite spot to grab a cold one or 50. This place is one of the legendary establishments in our hood. Which is why I’m keeping this post to a brief overview.

Let me just say this, no matter what you’ve heard about Cody’s (bartenders passing out mid shift, shady Superbowl betting- twice, really?) the atmosphere, the drinks and the food are always on point.

Its one of our local “go to” bars in the 10013. A place where you know exactly what your getting into…

455

Vic (the man seated here) is the G behind the bar. He’s been around these parts since the building was constructed back in the 1880s and through the 70s when Cody’s was rented out by John Belushi for private post-SNL parties. Really that whole time, I promise.

455

My suggestion is to hit the top shelf liquor sitting easily available on the bottom shelf and try something from the menu. Its only bar food, but its Cody’s Bar food. Recongize!

Cody’s Bar & Grill
282 Hudson Street at Dominick Street.
New York, NY 10013

Open Monday through Friday 12pm – 2am

Menu is available here, in case you want to order in a little love from Cody’s.

455

Check Cody’s on Yelp and leave your best Vic story.

LAST MAN STANDING | DANNY SUPA

1411

Photos and Words by John Bradford spotted on Skateboarder’s Daily Film Blog

Danny Supa is in the “Raymond’s Road to Recovery” article in the new August 2010 issue of Skateboarder. He killed every spot we skated which is rare on a trip.

455

Most people pick a couple things they are going to kill themselves on and keep it mellow at other times… This switch pop shov went in the article as a sequence. I still liked the still so I threw it up here, on the internet.

455

The sequence is really ill, make sure you pick up a copy of Skateboarder’s August 2010 Issue to see it and tear out page 76. Danny is the man.
